Rumours – separating the wheat from the chaff

Folks, please try and think at the same time you’re reading all these rumours. How many Spurs players have we been linked with over the last few months? Six at least that I know of.

Ask yourselves is it a repeat of the Tim Sherwood affair; it seems clear to me Bentley’s head was turned last season and still to date we’ve not had a firm offer from anyone. A plethora of speculation & rumours of sell on clauses, but take note how clubs – supposedly richer than us remember – seem to be ‘cash poor’ and have to rely on wheeler dealing to generate cash.

Liverpool do seem to do well selling players on, 10 mill for Crouch? 4 mill for Risse? They want 16 mill for Alonso? Crackers, truly crackers – but credit to them if they can get it. Suppose it all fell through, and they couldn’t get Gareth Barry, does that mean Villa couldn’t buy?

Seems more likely Spurs are the only suitors, and they are clearly trying every trick to not stump up the moolah.

Strange to see no comments on here about John Williams’s takeover update? Why do folks think the Trustees have pitched again? My gut feeling is it’s a selling ploy, spin. JW said today any bidders have to agree to Non Disclosure Agreements – so looks like my feelings that Nabeel Chowdery was never serious and it was a PR stunt look to be on the money (no pun intended) don’t they? If he can’t be trusted to abide to a NDA simply to keep his ego fed, then clearly he wasn’t the right candidate for our beloved club.
